Project Details
A contemporary home grounded in its natural surroundings, Project Koonwarra embraces simplicity, warmth and a considered connection to the landscape.
Designed with a refined material palette of warm timber accents, exposed recycled red bricks, natural textures and cool grey tones, the home balances contemporary architecture with a sense of warmth and familiarity. Black framed windows create strong architectural definition while drawing the surrounding bushland deep into the interiors.
Inside, woodmatt timber cabinetry provides a natural contrast against burnished concrete floors, soft neutral walls and crisp white cabinetry. S-fold sheer curtains introduce softness and texture, while carefully selected vintage-inspired furniture and organic styling elements add character and a sense of lived-in comfort.
The exposed brick feature wall forms a strong focal point within the living space, complemented by sculptural matte black fans and lighting with a traditional wood-burning stove. In the kitchen, streamlined cabinetry, Tasmanian oak timber grain, subtle stone surfaces and slimline black hardware create a functional yet timeless aesthetic.
The wet areas continue the restrained material palette, with textured stone look porcelain tiles, contrasting with v-groove panelling and antique bronze tapware adding depth and understated sophistication. The main intension for the overall colour palette was to compliment the handmade artisan ‘chun blue’ custom made basins.
The result is a home that feels calm, cohesive and connected to its surroundings — contemporary in its detailing, yet warm, tactile and timeless in its materiality.
Client Feedback
We recently engaged Chelsea from Indigo Interior Design for our new build home and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. At the first consultation, we shared with Chelsea our three locally crafted bathroom basins, explaining that the interior design would need to be planned around these unique pieces. Chelsea embraced the challenge with professionalism and creativity, immediately making the process feel effortless and guided.
What stood out was her ability to simplify the decision making. Chelsea explained why certain choices would work and why others wouldn't, making it easy to select elements that created a cohesive design that flows beautifully throughout the house. Rather than overwhelming us with endless options, she curated selections that perfectly complemented our home and style, removing all guesswork. Every recommendation, from external/internal finishes to window furnishings was both elegant and practical resulting in a sophisticated, harmonious home.
Her expertise and keen eye for detail ensured that our vision was not only realised, but elevated creating a home that is as functional as it is beautiful. We wholeheartedly recommend Chelsea to anyone seeking a refined, stress-free design experience with impeccable results.
